Just a little nudge here towards Mother’s Day (UK 30 March) and Easter (20 April)
I know it is early but if you have not tried homemade gifts before I thought a little practise and tasting time might be a good idea - especially with the liqueur. . . .
Mothers tend to like chocolate, love it even, but what is particularly special is when their child presents them with a gift they have made themselves - even if you are 32.
If you follow my recipe for Chocolate Liqueur you will tick all of those boxes and more - but beware, some flowers from the garage forecourt will never again suffice.
The recipe has just five ingredients and takes around 15 minutes to make and can be found in my free to use recipe site (link below)
I am giving you plenty of notice so that you can a) practise and test (!) and b) spend a bit of time finding a suitable bottle to put the liqueur in and also, maybe, a pretty glass or two to complete your gift. I have always found that charity shops are brilliant for finding pretty glasses as they are often not sets but all the odd ones left from a once happy home. I have also been lucky to find pressed glass items like sugar bowls with or without covers and I like to buy them when I have had the time to browse rather than shopping to order. I take them home and wash them carefully, and then use them for my gifts when needed. They can then be passed on as part of the gift but not create another problem - how many pretty boxes do you receive that are made to fit but then have to be discarded as they are no use for anything else.? Either that, or you keep them forever thinking they will ‘come in for something’ and then throw them away years later! I have some such boxes that have moved house with me and I have lived here for 17 years!
This gift will be so well received, takes a little bit of effort but not too much cash as you probably already have most of the ingredients. My next recipe here will be something for Easter so look out for those sugar bowls!
Rosie, how long will this chocolate liqueur last in the refrigerator?
