Hi Sue - apologies for delay . . . .the washing soda is very effective! I use an old scoop from a measuring spoon set, (long since gone) It says that it is 75ml and I use 2 scoops although I think 1 would probably be sufficient.

Thought provoking as always, Rosie. You have also given me some tips on other things I can change which will save money too. (Castille soap and washing soda). For years I have not purchased products that are fragrant - my nose and throat tell me to avoid them. But I do love to be able to enjoy natural aromas - from herbs and spices, to fruit, to baking, fresh coffee and even smell of damp leaves on a rainy day.

I was interested in the story about the mince pies. Most of the shop bought ones are so awful I wonder how anyone can spend money on them. Fortunately we have a local bakers so this Christmas I have decided to get their cake and mince pies. I will do the nut roast and the puds and I have used your recipes to make elderberry spiced port and elderberry brandy as well as limoncello. Don't really understand why people treat shop bought stuff as superior to home made. Take care, Louise

Thank you, this was very interesting. I'm 40, and a quick count shows I know 5 couples who conceived through IVF. I need to investigate washing soda - I often use homemade conker laundry liquid but it's not great on stains.
